Rules
Himstale is a game for everyone 13 and over, played together. By creating a hero you agree to these rules:
- Be kind. No harassment, threats, hate, sexual content or spam, in chat, names, guild names or notices.
- Keep it private. Don't share anyone's real-life details, your own included.
- Play fair. No cheats, hacked clients or exploiting bugs: tell the staff about a bug instead.
- Listen to the staff. GMs and moderators can mute, jail, kick or ban anyone who breaks the rules, and rename or remove heroes with offensive names.
If someone bothers you, right-click (or long-press) them and choose Ignore to hide their chat and invitations, or Report to tell the staff (or type /report Name what happened). The rude-word filter is on unless you turn it off with /filter.
What the game keeps
- Your hero: its name, how it looks, and everything about it in the game (gear, skills, gold, bank, house, guild, quests), plus when it was made and last played.
- Your password, only as a salted scrypt hash, never as you typed it. The page never stores it. While the game reloads itself for an update, it holds it in that tab for a moment to sign you straight back in, then forgets it.
- Your internet address, to limit sign-in attempts and connections, and so a ban can cover it.
- Chat and commands. What you say is shown to other players. To keep the game safe, chat, commands, trades and sign-ins are also logged on the server and in a private staff channel on Discord. A report keeps the last few lines the reported player said.
- In your browser: your hero's name and look (for the welcome-back screen) and your settings (sound, minimap zoom, who you've ignored, the chat filter).
There are no ads, no analytics and no trackers, and nothing about you is sold or shared, except with the services that run the game: the server's host, Cloudflare (which carries all traffic to the game and sees your address) and Discord (the staff log). We use this information to run your hero and the world (the game can't work without it) and to keep the game safe and fair.
Your hero is kept until you delete it. The server keeps daily backups for 14 days, and the staff log is kept as long as the staff need it for moderation.
Deleting your hero
In the game: sign in, open the Hero tab (👤), and under Account choose Delete this hero, then type your password. That's it: your hero, its gear, bank, house, stall and guild place are deleted at once, for good, and its name is free for anyone. It's gone from the backups within 14 days.
Can't sign in? Email [email protected] with your hero's name and something only its owner would know (where its house is, what's in its bank, who's in its guild), and we'll delete it within 30 days.
Chat lines already in the staff log, and reports about a hero, are kept for moderation.
Children
Himstale isn't meant for children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has made a hero, email us and we'll delete it.
Your rights and contact
Himstale is made and run by an independent developer. To see, correct or delete what the game keeps about you, or with any question, email [email protected]. If you're in the UK or EU and unhappy with the answer, you can complain to your data protection authority.
